Disconnect

By Q. Imagine
Why, why
on these cloudy skies,
do I drift and drift by…
As I walk on barren sidewalks
with cold whispers drifting by.
Fearful thoughts invading my mind,
a cough/ a chill,
a hello/ goodbye.
Why, why,
do I even try,
when these cold whispers and cool summers
fly by.
And I drift back to those times.
The turnarounds and upside downs.
The memories as time flies.
But my mind is still a child,
a fetus waiting to grow inside
of a womb that can hold its beauty.
And care for its light.
And I wonder why on these
barren sidewalks,
do I find the disconnect of life from reality…
to drift to the cold whispers.
The disconnect,
the virus,
of today.
